Students were able to review the properties of light introduced in the Astronomy unit. They then observed a demonstration of how rays of light, which include different colored wavelengths, are reflected by objects to create the images their eyes see. Using this background knowledge, students then conducted an investigation to identify the similarities and differences between images in a mirror and the source of the image.

Today, all fifth grade students were able to attend a free field trip to the Strathmore so they could watch a captivating performance by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. For many, this was their first experience at the Strathmore. However, based on the smiles, applause, and cheers, I doubt that this will be the last time they attend the symphony. All students, parents, and friends are encouraged to link to the Strathmore or the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) to see the many exciting opportunities that exist. The BSO would also like to remind all parents that children are free for all performances by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra while at the Strathmore.

AuthorMy name is Mr. Bliven and I have been teaching at Matsunaga for 13 years. I love teaching and view education as a lifelong journey. Although I already hold several graduate degrees from McDaniel College and Johns Hopkins, I was thrilled to have recently completed my graduate certificate in technology integration from the University of Florida. I plan to continue my graduate studies and I am looking forward to using the strategies that I learn with my students. Archives
