Basically, a plot diagram breaks apart the entire plot into several distinct sections that allow students to see how the entire story fits together. Each part of the story or book is critical to the next section. Without being able to understand the distinction of each section, students have difficulty comprehending the entire text. A Plot Diagram breaks a text into the following categories:
- Exposition
- Rising Action
- Climax
- Falling Action
- Resolution
